Hi, I'm Mahmoud (or Moudi, also what my co-workers call me :))!

I am 33 years old, I spent the last 12 years of my life abroad, between London, LA, Berlin and more recently Lisbon. I worked in different industries, companies, positions and had different responsibilities.

It was when I became a manager of an international team, and had to orchestrate our roadmaps, strategy and project execution, that I became passionate about working directly with clients, trying to understand them better, bringing real value based on honest analysis and mutual alignment, and building a long-term relationship with them.

By growing up in Egypt and having lived in the US and Germany for most of my life, I have had the privilege of experiencing diverse cultures. Additionally, by learning several hard skills through my education and career, I had the opportunity to be in different and diverse work and life situations where I was able to understand myself better, and hence understand others better.
I started my career as an industrial engineer at Nestle Foods. It was a great experience to see legacy factories that have been running for 50 years with old production and utilities machinery, big teams and standardized processes. It was great to be challenged at a younger age to manage all stakeholders and solid beliefs in the factories and try to introduce to new development ideas and projects, and finally to navigate the execution to the finish line.
I shifted career towards analytics and finance as I joined Amazon where I found a great passion for data, business intelligence and optimization projects within the workforce staffing and production planning organizations. I led the production planning for southern Germany warehouses of Amazon, where matching capacity and demand was key for an efficient operational and financial performance of Amazon EU. Production Planning at Amazon was the focal point were finance, operations, supply chain and HR teams come together to optimize the operations and plan successful delivery to customers - amazing work done on a MASSIVE scale!

At Wayfair, I slightly shifted to more managerial roles in finance and operations excellence roles. I was responsible for the company’s operational costs that flows directly into the P&L and reviewed by Wayfair’s CFO. I also ran several optimization projects and managed tech products in the EU logistics network, including BREXIT related issues, cross-docking and warehousing, transportation lanes optimization and freight forwarding.

Apart from work, in 2022 and 2023 I got the chance to travel the world with my partner for 9 months, which has been a dream of ours since many years. We flew out from Germany heading to the eastern direction through Asia, Australia, Hawaii, USA, Portugal and UAE. I still remember my doubts as I decided to take this break and explore the world, and whether this is a smart thing to do, but it has definitely been one of the best things I have done in my life!

All photos on this page are taken by me during the trip!

On the sports side, I have been a professional rowing athlete for 8 years and competed internationally. Until now, I still have a big passion for sports and support for athletes.

During my 9 months world trip, I founded an online AI/ML community, "AI Crunch Community", that brings practitioners and enthusiasts together in a space where they can share knowledge and improve their technical ML/AI level. The community has a few thousand followers as of now, and is regularly organizing offline educational events and workshops in Hawaii, California, Berlin and Lisbon.
